About Tsebo

Tsebo is an interactive platform where users can meet specialist advisors to obtain advice on technical or operational challenges associated with the transport sector. The group of advisors comprise academics, researchers and private sector professionals that are currently on the SANRAL research panel as well as some SANRAL professional staff. SANRAL has selected advisors across several disciplines in transport that covers:

1. Asset Management
2. Geotechnical engineering
3. Future Transportation
4. Pavements (design and materials)
5. Drainage and Hydraulics
6. Structures (bridges, culverts etc.)
7. Traffic
8. Road Safety
9. Transportation planning
10. Environment including climate change

The Tsebo platform allows Advisors to schedule time slots showing their availability. Users can then browse the list of and descriptions of the expertise of the Advisors and book a time slot with an Advisor. Upon approval, an online video call takes place between the User and the Advisor. This call is recorded and transcribed using AI technologies. The Tsebo database with recordings as well as research material is also available to Users for consultation. A Large Language Model (LLM) with a Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) system was deployed to provide Advisors and Users the ability to interrogate the Tsebo system and receive responses based on peer-reviewed information with references - ideal for students conducting post graduate studies (similar to ChatGPT, but limited to the information in the Tsebo database).

The Tsebo system is sponsored by SANRAL and as such its use is free to registered Users.
