Terms and Conditions of Use
TSEBO Technical Advice Platform (Tsebo). Effective Date: May 2026.
1. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”):
- “TSEBO” means the Tsebo Technical Advice Platform.
- “SANRAL” means the South African National Road Agency SOC Limited sponsoring the Tsebo platform.
- “User” means any registered User of the Tsebo.
- “Advisor” means a registered expert providing advice.
- “Administrator” means the appointed and designated administrator of the Tsebo platform
- “Content” includes transcripts, video recordings, documents, research papers, learning materials, and any other data uploaded or generated on the Tsebo platform.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By registering an account or accessing Tsebo, you:
- Agree to be bound by these Terms and the Privacy Policy
- Confirm that all information provided is accurate and up to date
- Consent to the recording and reuse of technical advisory interactions as described below
- If you do not agree, you must not use Tsebo.
3. Eligibility and Access
- Access is restricted to authorised users approved by SANRAL and or its designated Tsebo administrators.
- Login credentials are personal and must not be shared.
- SANRAL and or its designated Tsebo administrators reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for misuse, non-compliance, or security reasons.
4. User Roles and Responsibilities
4.1 Advisors
Advisors:
- Provide Advisory services on a professional and ethical basis.
- Honour scheduled commitments or reschedule in reasonable time.
- Acknowledge and provides consent that sessions are recorded in video and sound and agrees that it is shared as learning materials, reporting, research content and for the purposes of operating the Tsebo platform.
- Grant a non-exclusive licence for recorded sessions and uploaded research to be reused as educational material, reporting, research content, or for the purposes of operating the Tsebo platform.
- Remain responsible for the accuracy of their contributions.
- May not redistribute or commercialise Tsebo content.
- Must respect confidentiality and intellectual property rights.
Advisors act as independent contributors, unless otherwise contractually agreed with SANRAL.
4.2 Users
Users:
- Acknowledge and provides consent that sessions are recorded in video and sound and agrees that it is shared as learning materials, reporting, research content and for the purposes of operating the Tsebo platform.
- Use content strictly for educational and professional development purposes.
- May not redistribute or commercialise Tsebo content.
- Must respect confidentiality and intellectual property rights.
4. Tsebo Administrators
Administrators:
- SANRAL and or its designated Tsebo administrators manage Tsebo for educational purposes, agreed administration, moderation, reporting, and governance purposes.
5. Recording of Technical Advice Interactions
- All technical advice interactions may be recorded (audio, video, and transcripts) and advisors and users provide their consent for such recording by accepting the terms and conditions.
- Recordings may be made available to other Users and Advisors.
- Recordings may be used for training, research, quality assurance, reporting and for the purposes of operating the Tsebo platform.
- By participating, Users and Advisors irrevocably consent to such recording and reuse.
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 Advisors and Users Content
- Users and Advisors retain ownership of their original intellectual property
- By uploading content, Users and Advisors grant SANRAL and Tsebo a royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive licence to store, reproduce, publish, and make available all content to other advisors and users for the purposes of operating Tsebo
7. Acceptable Use
Users and Advisors may not:
- Upload unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, or misleading content or information that could potentially breach the POPIA act
- Circumvent security controls
- Attempt unauthorised access to systems or data
- Misrepresent qualifications or identity
8. Data Security and System Availability
- Reasonable technical and organisational measures are applied to protect the data on Tsebo
- Availability is provided on a best-effort basis
- Tsebo and SANRAL is not liable for interruptions
9. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law:
- Tsebo nor SANRAL is not liable for direct, indirect or consequential loss resulting from the use of Tsebo and its content
- Advisors, SANRAL or Administrators are not liable for professional advice provided
10. Termination
SANRAL may suspend or terminate access:
- For breach of these Terms
- To comply with legal or policy obligations
- For operational or security reasons
- Perpetual dishonouring of scheduled interactions
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
12. Use of the Tsebo database and Knowledge Function
Please note that the journal articles and conference papers included in the Tsebo database are peer reviewed during publication. As such the information they contain and the opinions expressed are those of the authors and not of the publisher (e.g. journal, Sabita or SATC). This information should therefore be used with care.
